Precept 4 – Sin is lawlessness

Precept 4 – Sin is Breaking YHVH’s laws!

After being baptized by John Yeshua (Jesus) went into the wilderness where he was tempted by Satan; and when he came out began to teach in Galilee.

Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” (Mar 1:14-15)

The Gospel, as we can clearly see, is about the kingdom of Heaven. And the only way to join ourselves to that kingdom is through repentance. Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines “repentance” this way.

Real penitence; sorrow or deep contrition for sin, as an offense and dishonor to God, a violation of his holy law, and the basest ingratitude towards a Being of infinite benevolence. This is called evangelical repentance, and is accompanied and followed by amendment of life.

The prophet Ezekiel also talks about repentance. And says, “Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,” says the Lord GOD. “Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity [sin] will not be your ruin. Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord GOD. “Therefore turn and live!” (Eze 18:30-32) But what is sin? When I want to define a word in the scriptures I try to discover where the scriptures define that specific word. Here are a few of the verses I found.

“If a person sins, and commits any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the LORD, though he does not know it, yet he is guilty and shall bear his iniquity. (Lev 5:17) One ordinance shall be for you of the assembly and for the stranger [the stranger or ger, is the Gentile who has left the land of his birth and joined himself to True Israel through repentance] who dwells with you, an ordinance forever throughout your generations; as you are, so shall the stranger be before the LORD. One law and one custom shall be for you and for the stranger who dwells with you.’ ” … ‘If you sin unintentionally, and do not observe all these commandments which the LORD has spoken to Moses–all that the LORD has commanded you by the hand of Moses, from the day the LORD gave commandment and onward throughout your generations … (Num 15:15-23) ‘But the person who does anything presumptuously, whether he is native-born or a stranger, that one brings reproach on the LORD, and he shall be cut off from among his people. Because he has despised the word of the LORD, and has broken His commandment, that person shall be completely cut off; his guilt shall be upon him.’ ” (Num 15:30-31) “Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die. But if a man is just And does what is lawful and right; If he has walked in My statutes– And kept My judgments faithfully– He is just; He shall surely live!” Says the Lord GOD. (Eze 18:4-5, 9) “But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. (Eze 18:21)

And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. (1Jn 3:3-4)

Without a doubt sin is breaking YHVH’s laws, His commandment, statutes and judgments given to all men through Moses. Everyone must repent, both Jew and Gentile alike in order to join themselves to YHVH’s holy nation which has Yeshua as their king; and that nation is True Israel. The kingdom of heaven is truly at hand today, for all who will repent and turn from their ways, and the ways of men, to our Father’s ways given through Moses. Without true repentance and turning NO ONE will be considered YHVH’s people or have any part in His son Yeshua!

For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? (Heb 10:26-29)

    Dear Brother,
Thank you so much for sharing the simple message on SINS of present days church going people. “Sin is Lawlessness”. As per the prophacy this lawlessness will increase in coming days. The Holy Spirit filled person will know how to correct it as He is the guide and comfortor inside the true believer. The righteous will rise again even he falls seven time. But, it is not for the all common people who goes to churches or synegoges nominally and never Repented truly about their sins. May God protect us to be a “True to Him all the times”. Shalom.
