(6) In the Wilderness
It will be during the 1260 days, 42 months, 3 1/2 years in the wilderness that most of the 7 seals, trumpets and plagues will be released on the earth. But just like the first time we were brought out of Egypt the Father will again provide His people with a little sanctuary.
And in that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, … I will make a difference between My people and your people. ” (Exo 8:22-23)
And it shall come to pass that he who is left in Zion and remains in Jerusalem will be called holy–everyone who is recorded among the living in Jerusalem. When the Lord (Elohim) has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and purged the blood of Jerusalem from her midst, by the spirit of judgment and by the spirit of burning, then Yehovah will create above every dwelling place of Mount Zion, and above her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day and the shining of a flaming fire by night. For over all the glory there will be a covering. And there will be a tabernacle for shade in the daytime from the heat, for a place of refuge, and for a shelter from storm and rain. (Isa 4:3-6)
“Son of man, your brethren, your relatives, your countrymen, and all the house of Israel in its entirety, are those about whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, ‘Get far away from Yehovah; this land has been given to us as a possession.’ Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Elohim Yehovah: “Although I have cast them far off among the Gentiles, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet I shall be a little sanctuary for them in the countries where they have gone.” ‘ Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord Yehovah: “I will gather you from the peoples, assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.” ‘ (Eze 11:15-17)
It appears to me that the first exodus from Egypt by the masses and taking of the Promised Land is only a miniature shadow picture of what Yehovah will do in the last days, the second exodus, to reclaim the entire earth back for His glory.
The earth is Yehovah’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein. Psa 24:1
“Therefore, behold, the days are coming,” says Yehovah, “that they shall no longer say, ‘As Yehovah lives who brought up the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt,’ but, ‘As Yehovah lives who brought up and led the descendants of the house of Israel from the north country and from all the countries where I had driven them.’ And they shall dwell in their own land.” (Jer 23:7-8)
Now therefore, O Yehovah our Elohim, I pray, save us from his [Sennacherib’s – this time around it will be the Assyrian] hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are Yehovah Elohim, You alone.” (2Ki 19:19)
Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of Yehovah and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” (Rev 11:15)
During the time that Israel dwells safely in the wilderness, in each of her set-apart locations, I see her going through three distinct phases.
Phase I – A Nation at Rest
After the sealing of the 144,000 and the first great shaking of the earth; everyone who makes it to one of these set-apart men will dwell securely in the wilderness like stall-fed and protected calves.
“For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, and all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up,” Says Yehovah of hosts, “That will leave them neither root nor branch. But to you who fear My name the Sun [the light] of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings; And you shall go out and grow fat like stall-fed calves. You shall trample the wicked, for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I do this,” Says Yehovah of hosts. “Remember the Law of Moses, My servant, which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. (Mal 4:1-4)
Phase II – A Nation Attacked
At this the same time the world will be experiencing great darkness and shortages. Because they perceive that the seals, trumpets and plagues are because of Yehovah’s people, instead of their own wickedness, they will send a flood of people against us in each of our set-apart places.
So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. (Rev 12:15)
Woe to the multitude of many people who make a noise like the roar of the seas, and to the rushing of nations that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters! The nations will rush like the rushing of many waters; but Elohim will rebuke them and they will flee far away, and be chased like the chaff of the mountains before the wind, like a rolling thing before the whirlwind. (Isa 17:12-13)
Phase III – A Nation in Conquest
Like in Egypt, the world is once again going to see the strong-arm of Yehovah, but this time it will be first hand. Yeshua told Peter that the gates of hell would not prevail against the “church,” the “called-out” ones.
And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Mat 16:18-19)
NEWSFLASH: Gates do not attack, they defend! Now Israel, scattered all over the world, will go on the offensive to reclaim all the kingdoms of the earth for Yehovah, as He and His men go to war!
A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, like the morning clouds spread over the mountains. A people come, great and strong, the like of whom has never been; nor will there ever be any such after them, even for many successive generations. A fire devours before them, and behind them a flame burns; the land is like the Garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; surely nothing shall escape them. (Joe 2:2-3)
Their appearance is like the appearance of horses; and like swift steeds, so they run. With a noise like chariots over mountaintops they leap, like the noise of a flaming fire that devours the stubble, like a strong people set in battle array. Before them the people writhe in pain; all faces are drained of color. (Joe 2:4-6)
They run like mighty men, they climb the wall like men of war; every one marches in formation, and they do not break ranks. They do not push one another; every one marches in his own column. Though they lunge between the weapons, they are not cut down. They run to and fro in the city, they run on the wall; they climb into the houses, they enter at the windows like a thief. The earth quakes before them, the heavens tremble; the sun and moon grow dark, and the stars diminish their brightness. Yehovah gives voice before His army, for His camp is very great; for strong is the one who executes His word. For the day of Yehovah is great and very terrible; who can endure it? (Joe 2:7-11)
So who can be saved in these last days? The answer has never changed. It is those who will humble themselves, turn to all of the Creator’s ways and call on His name, Yehovah. Just like it says at the end of this wonderful second chapter of Joel.
And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of Yehovah shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, as Yehovah has said, among the remnant whom Yehovah calls. (Joe 2:32)
