Mighty Men Begin To Roar On The Earth

mighty men, roar like a lion, lion's roar, Isaiah 5 29, Jeremiah 4 6-7, Numbers 24 8-9, last days
This portion of the book of Yasher which we are covering today is one of my very favorites; it is a shadow picture of things to come. Yehovah is now raising up mighty men [a 144,000 ish, His servants, the good shepherds] who will serve only Him; mighty men whom He can use to take back all the earth for Himself in the coming last days. The mighty men found in these chapters are men that the world has not seen in a very long time. They are just like the mighty men described in Joel 2.

The Mighty Men Will Roar

They run like mighty men, they climb the wall like men of war; every one marches in formation, and they do not break ranks. They do not push one another; every one marches in his own column. Though they lunge between the weapons, they are not cut down. they run to and fro in the city, they run on the wall; they climb into the houses, they enter at the windows like a thief. (Joe 2:7-9)

These mighty men whom Yehovah is currently raising up seem quite the opposite right now. They look weak, lame and poor in their flesh but they are mighty men in their spirit. Yehovah says through Isaiah,

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting Elohim (lawmaker and judge), Yehovah, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths [these are the young boys who never get tired] shall faint and be weary, and the young men [these are the mighty men in the flesh, the military men who serve other elohim]  shall utterly fall. But those who wait on Yehovah shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. (Isa 40:28-31)

Jacob is now 105 years old and he has just moved his family from Hebron, where his dad Isaac lives, back to Shechem and his good and fat pasture which is there. But the Canaanites that live around the city of Shechem are not happy to see Jacob or his sons.

Yasher 37:4 And all those kings of the Canaanites and Amorites that surrounded the city of Shechem, heard that the sons of Jacob had again come to Shechem and dwelt there.
5 And they said, Shall the sons of Jacob the Hebrew again come to the city and dwell therein, after that they have smitten its inhabitants and driven them out? shall they now return and also drive out those who are dwelling in the city or slay them?
6 And all the kings of Canaan again assembled, and they came together to make war with Jacob and his sons.

Seven kings came with their camps and divided themselves into seven divisions in the field.

Yasher 37:9 And all these kings assembled together and came with all their camps, a people exceedingly plentiful like the sand upon the sea-shore, and they were all opposite to Tapnach.

Jacob’s sons (ages 13 – 19) had no fear, for they know Who they serve.

Yasher 37:12 And Jacob’s seed heard this and their anger was kindled exceedingly at the words of the kings of Canaan, and ten of Jacob’s seed hastened and rose up, and each of them girt on his weapons of war; and there were one hundred and two of their servants with them equipped in battle array.
13 And all these men, Jacob’s seed with their servants, went toward these kings, and Jacob their father was with them.

Jacob prayed for himself, his sons and their 102 servants.

Yasher 37:14 And Jacob prayed to Yehovah for his sons, … for in thy hand is power and might, to save the few from the many.
15 And give unto my sons, thy servants, strength of heart and might to fight with their enemies, to subdue them, and make their enemies fall before them, and let not my sons and their servants die through the hands Canaan’s sons.

And just like the beginning of our battles in the last days, the sun and the moon grew dark and the earth shook .

Yasher 37:17 And when Jacob ceased praying to Yehovah the earth shook from its place, and the sun darkened, and all these kings were terrified and a great consternation seized them.
18 And Yehovah hearkened to the prayer of Jacob, and Yehovah impressed the hearts of all the kings and their hosts with the terror and awe of Jacob’s seed.

The earth quakes before them, the heavens tremble; the sun and moon grow dark, and the stars diminish their brightness. Yehovah gives voice before His army, for His camp is very great; for strong is the one who executes His word. For the day of Yehovah is great and very terrible; who can endure it? (Joe 2:10-11)

Judah was the first to attack with just 10 servants; he immediately killed 42 of the mighty men of Canaan and inspired his brothers in the fight and in that battle they killed 15,000 mighty men of Canaan.

Yasher 37:41 And when the sons of Jacob saw what Judah had done to Jashub, they all ran into the ranks of the other kings, and the sons of Jacob fought with the army of Jashub, and the armies of all the kings that were there.
42 And Jacob’s seed caused fifteen thousand of their men to fall, and they smote them as if smiting at gourds, and the rest fled for their lives.

So great was their fear that they ran away from us into their cities.

Yasher 38:4 And the kings and the captains with the rest of their armies, seeing that Jacob’s seed approached them, were afraid of their lives and fled till they reached the city of Chazar.

Well these Canaanite cities are not like ours; they had moats, strong gates and multiple high walls around them with defenders on each one.

Over the next six days we took 7 cities and all the spoil in them.  In the three chapters we cover today you will see these mighty men leap 50 – 60 feet across moats, spring up onto 75 foot walls, tear down strong gates with the bear hands and roar like lions so loud that their enemies drop their weapons and run away in fear. Oh my – we have so much to look forward to. Great is the army that serves only Yehovah and carries out His word.
