I love the story of Noah and the fall of the antediluvian world; through it we can know what to expect in the coming last days of the world we live in.
The thing which has been, is that which will be; and that which is done is that which shall be done; there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which it may be said, “See, this is new?” It has already been in ancient times before us. (Ecc 1:9-10)
Men in Noah’s day failed to follow the way of the Creator.
So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all [כל, kol] flesh [בשׂר, baw·sawr] had corrupted His way [דרכו, His de·rek] on the earth. And Elohim said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before My face, because the earth is filled with violence from them; and behold, I will destroy them from the earth’s face . (Gen 6:12-13)
“All flesh” has failed to follow His de·rek (His way) and they are about to be “wiped ” from the face of the earth. But who are the “all flesh” that has not followed His de·rek (His way)? Is it animal flesh that he is mad at? How about bird flesh? Or female flesh? The answer is found in verses 5-7.
Then Yehovah saw that the wickedness of “the man.” was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And Yehovah was sorry that He had made the man [×”×ד×, ha·a·dam] on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So Yehovah said, “I will destroy the man [×”×ד×, ha·a·dam] whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man [×ד×, a·dam] and behemah, creeping things and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” (Gen 6:5-7)
The “all flesh” is ha·a·dam, the man; the women and the other living things of the earth were just “collateral damage.” They all died because all ha-a-dam’s seed turned from Yehovah’s de·rek (way). And isn’t this what Yehovah promises to do yet again? Check these verses out and see who is going to be wiped from the earth’s face this next time.
Wait on Yehovah, and keep His way [דרכו, His de·rek], and He shall exalt you to inherit the land. When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it. I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a new Ezrach [×זרח, born in the land man]. Yet he passed away, and behold, he was no more; indeed I sought him, but he could not be found. (Psa 37:34-36)
Yehovah’s way [דרך, de·rek] is strength for the upright, but destruction will come to the workers of iniquity. The righteous [צדיק, tza·dek] will never be removed, but the wicked will not inhabit the earth. The mouth of the righteous [צדיק, tza·dek] brings forth wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut out. (Pro 10:29-31)
The face of Yehovah is against those who do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. (Psa 34:16)
Behold, the day of Yehovah comes, cruel, with both wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate; and He will destroy its sinners from it. (Isa 13:9)
Only ha·a·dam, the man, was created to keep Yehovah’s eternal and unchanging ways; His de·rek (way). But look what happens when the man does keep Yehovah’s de·rek (way); that man, and all who follow him, are preserved in the earth.
But Noah found grace in Yehovah’s eyes. This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah became a wholly [תמי×, taw·meem] righteous [צדיק, tza·dek] man [×יש×, eesh] in his generations. Noah walked with THE God [×”×להי×, ha·E·lo·him]. (Gen 6:8-9)
Noah became a wholly righteous man because he walked with THE Elohim of all the earth; while ha-a-dam’s seed (all the male descendants who come from ha-a-dam) perverted His de·rek in all they did and followed other elohim (lawmakers and judges) besides Yehovah.
There are several things that we should take note of here.
- Grace can only be found by those who walk wholly with Yehovah. Following other elohim will get you (and yours) “wiped from the earth’s face”. (Check your wallet men to discover who you serve!)
- In torah you will never find the words “righteous woman” (tza·dek ish·shah); the word tza·dek is used exclusively for men who follow Yehovah’s de·rek (His way).
- There is no female eesh; that word delineates only a man.
- Noah, his sons, his woman, his sons’ women and all the animals on the ark were saved because he kept Yehovah’s de·rek (His way) and they were covered by Him.
Now, look what Yehovah says about ha·a·dam, the man who does follows Him wholly.
For Yehovah loves justice, and does not forsake His kind/His saints [חסידיו, His khaw·seed]; they are preserved forever, but the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off. The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell in it forever. (Psa 37:28-29)
“Gather to me My kind/My saints [חסידי, My khaw·seed], those who have cut a covenant with Me by slaughter.” (Psa 50:5)
Cutting a covenant with Yehovah by slaughter is referring to Passover, and THAT is how ha·a·dam (the man) can, once again, become a wholly righteous man before Yehovah, His Ez·rach, His khaw·seed.
So much to learn, and so little time; a lifetime is hardly enough!
