Noah, a man who walked with Yehovah, and his family were the only 8 people brought from the antediluvian world to the world we find ourselves in today. Frankly, I do not think that there is much change between those wicked men and us.
The instructions which Yehovah gave Noah, and his sons, were to “be fruitful and multiply.” He did say “multiple and multiply” which is what most people think. Being fruitful and multiplying is all about doing what we were created to do, and then make more like us. The command was given to Noah and his sons, not the ladies. “The man” was created in Yehovah’s image and is His servant. The woman, who was created from the man as “bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh,” is to be his servant.
Nothing has changed, nothing can change; we either learn to do what we were created to do, or we will die! It is that simple.
So Noah went out, and his sons and his woman and his sons’ women with him. Every animal, every creeping thing, every bird, and whatever creeps on the earth, according to their families, went out of the ark. Then Noah built an altar to Yehovah, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and raised olah [burnt offerings] on the altar and Yehovah smelled a soothing aroma. (Gen 8:18-21)
“Noah built an altar to Yehovah.” It is interesting to me that this is the first thing Noah did after he was delivered from the fate of the disobedient antediluvians. I think the sweet aroma that Yehovah smelled was more than the smoke which Noah raised from the altar; it was also the obedience that came from the heart of Noah.
Check is out! After Yehovah brought out Israel’s seed (with their families, their servants, and the Ger who dwells with them) and gave them His the 10 commandments, the very next thing he told him to do was “build and altar of stone or dirt” and Yehovah would meet with him. Noah was doing what he was created to do and so was Israel after they left Egypt.
An altar of earth thou [imperfect, masculine, singular, 2nd person] shall make to Me, and thou shall slaughter on thy o-lah and thy she-la-mim from thy flocks and the cattle. In all the places My name shall be remembered [זכיר, zaw·kar’] I will come to thee and bless thee. (Exo 20:24)
Please give me a listen; you will enjoy what I have to say if you love Yehovah’s word as much as I do.
