The Song Of Moses

song of MosesThe song of Moses was written when he was 120 years old.

And he said to them: “I am one hundred and twenty years old today. I can no longer go out and come in. Also Yehovah has said to me, ‘You shall not cross over this Jordan.’ (Deu 31:2)

He has been with Israel’s seed (a.k.a. and perversely known as “the children of Israel”) for 40 years; he knows them and he knew their fathers also. But these spiritually born men have never really been Yehovah’s servants.

Now Moses called all Israel and said to them: “You have seen all that Yehovah did before your eyes in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his land—the great trials which your eyes have seen, the signs, and those great wonders. Yet Yehovah has not given you a heart to perceive and eyes to see and ears to hear, to this very day. (Deu 29:2-4)

We, Israel’s seed, are getting ready to take possession of our lands; but Yehovah and Moses both know that we will forsake Him and serve other elohim (the lawmakers and the judges of the nations that are all around us).

The song of Moses was given to Israel’s seed and to their seed (all Ezrach men) to be a testimony against themselves (those who left Yehovah to serve other elohim) in the latter days.

“Now therefore, write this song of Moses for yourselves, and teach it to Israel’s seed; put it in their mouths, that this song of Moses may be a witness for Me against Israel’s seed. When I have brought them to the land flowing with milk and honey, of which I swore to their fathers, and they have eaten and filled themselves and grown fat, then they will turn to other gods and serve them; and they will provoke Me and break My covenant. Then it shall be, when many evils and troubles have come upon them, that this song of Moses will testify against them as a witness; for it will not be forgotten in the mouths of their descendants [זרעו, zera – seed], for I know the inclination of their behavior today, even before I have brought them to the land of which I swore to give them.” Therefore Moses wrote this song of Moses the same day, and taught it to Israel’s seed. (Deu 31:19-22)

As I said, this song of Moses is given to Israel’s seed (people like me, who have voluntarily left the kingdom of their birth, joined themselves to Yehovah and His other called-out servants and then at Passover have become His Ezrach seed and heir) and it is to be sung to those who have gone and served other elohim. These men are harlots, and the song of Moses tells their story and their latter end.

“For they [harlot Israel] are a nation [גוי, Goy] void of counsel, nor is there any understanding in them. Oh, that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end! (Deu 32:28-29)

Those who dwell on earth live a very pragmatic lifestyle, they live for today and do not consider their latter end. But Yehovah’s servants see the big picture and they know that what Yehovah says, He will do.

Therefore thus says my master, Yehovah: “Behold, My servants shall eat, but you shall be hungry; Behold, My servants shall drink, but you shall be thirsty; Behold, My servants shall rejoice, but you shall be ashamed. Behold, My servants shall sing for joy of heart, but you shall cry for sorrow of heart, and wail for grief of spirit. You shall leave your name as a curse to My chosen; For my master, Yehovah will slay you, And call His servants by another name. (Isa 65:13-15)

Guilt Of Bloodshed

In Deuteronomy 19 Yehovah instructs Israel’s seed (erroneously and otherwise known as “the children of Israel”) to separate 3 cities (all Levitical cities) and later, once we had taken the land of the Canaanites, to add 3 more; lest the avenger of blood should overtake the man-slayer (הרצח, ha-ra-tsach), who was not deserving of death, and kill him.

“Now if Yehovah, thy Elohim enlarges thy territory, as He swore to thy fathers, and gives thee the land which He promised to give to thy fathers, and if thou keep all these commandments and do them, which I command thee today, to love Yehovah, thy Elohim and to walk always in His ways, then thou shall add three more cities for thyself besides these three, lest innocent blood be shed in the midst of thy land which Yehovah, thy Elohim is giving thee as an inheritance, and thus guilt of bloodshed [דמים, da-mim is the plural form of דם, dam or blood] be upon thee. (Deu 19:9-10)

This word דמים, da-mim is translated in many ways; “guilt of bloodshed,” “blood-guiltiness.” “the guilt of shedding blood,” “blood,” and others; but the one I like best is, “all the blood.”

Yehovah feels strongly about the innocent blood of a man or an animal that is killed improperly, and blood is a subject that He talks about over 300 times in in Torah (Genesis through Deuteronomy). Anyone who sheds blood of man or beast (be-hem-ah) inappropriately will be cut off from Israel. He says the life is in the blood.

Guilt of bloodshedBut you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood [דם] . Surely for your blood [דם], for your lives, I will demand a reckoning; from the hand of every beast I will require it, and from the hand of man. From the hand of every man’s brother I will require the life of man. “Whoever sheds the man’s blood [דם], by a man his blood [דם] shall be shed; For in the image of Elohim He made the man. (Gen 9:4-6)

Moreover you shall not eat any blood [דם] in any of your dwellings, whether of bird or beast. Whoever eats any blood, that person shall be cut off from his people.’ ” (Lev 7:26-27)

“Whatever man of the house of Israel who kills an ox or lamb or goat in the camp, or who kills it outside the camp, and does not bring it to the door of the tabernacle of meeting to offer an offering to Yehovah before the tabernacle of Yehovah, the guilt of bloodshed [דם, blood] is imputed to that man. Blood [דם] he has shed; and that man shall be cut off from among his people. (Lev 17:3-4)

If a man lies with a woman during her sickness and uncovers her nakedness, he has exposed her flow, and she has uncovered the flow of her blood [דם]. Both of them shall be cut off from their people. (Lev 20:18)

Killing a man, slaughtering a clean animal inappropriately, and even eating a clean animal that has been slaughtered by another inappropriately [this is what “meat sacrificed to idols” is all about“] has eternal consequences; and if you have eaten any meat, with the USDA label on it, you too are guilty of “all the blood.” Being cut off from among Yehovah’s people means there is no life after death. But hey, most men today are not Yehovah’s people anyway; they have never left the kingdom of their birth and made themselves wholly Yehovah’s man; they have committed this sin and would be cut off from among Yehovah’s people even if they were his people. So eat, drink and be merry; but know, that payment will be due.

Yehovah commanded each Ezrach man concerning how to lead those within his gates saying,

Thou shalt not רצח [ra-tsach]; Thou shall not murder! (Exo 20:13)

Zimri And Cozbi

Israel has just finish defeating the two powerful kings of the Amorites, Sihon and Og of Bashan; they were the dreaded enemies of both Moab and Midian. Now that we were able to destroy the Amorites so easily, Moab and Midian both fear that they will be the next to fall to us.

Instead of fighting us directly, they have put together a plan to undermine Israel’s son’s relationship with Yehovah. After a summer campaign on the east side of the Jordan we have gathered at Shittim on the plain of Moab to spend the winter before we start a new campaign on the west side of the Jordan in the spring.

It appears to me that some of Israel (remember they are the ezrach men) have become complacent and perhaps willing to covenant with our enemies instead of destroying them. Some of us began to take their daughters, eat their meat which has not been slaughtered to Yehovah and, worst of all, bowed down and served other elohim (lawmakers and judges) besides Yehovah.

And he, Israel abode in Shittim, and the people became wanton for Moab’s  daughters [בנות, benot], and they [Moab] called to the people to slaughter [לזבחי, zeh-vach] to their elohim (lawmakers and judges), and they did eat; and the people bowed down to their elohim. (Num 25:2-3)

Incidentally, eating meat slaughtered to other elohim is what we do when we buy beef, lamb or goat at the grocery store.

Meat sacrificed to idols – 7

Leviticus 17 is all about Yehovah’s instructions which His people (both the Ezrach and the Gerim, all men) are to follow for the slaughter of clean meats. In all cases the man who kills the animal is the one who eats it along with all those who are clean (tahor) and under his covering.

I think we, who are now trying to come to the truths of Yehovah’s word, have been deceived and misdirected by the word which the translators use in this chapter and in the Hebrew scriptures as a whole; and calling Yehovah’s Thanksgiving Slaughter a “sacrifice of the peace offering” has confused us even further.

It appears to me that Yehovah expects His people to live a more agrarian lifestyle. He never intended us to live in cities and be dependent on other men for our food, utilities, the education of our children and for our work. Over thousands of years we have drifted so far from Yehovah’s eternal and unchanging ways that what we currently do, seems right,

The heart knows his own bitterness, and a zoor  does not share his joy. The house of the wicked will be overthrown, but the tent of the upright will flourish. There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. (Pro 14:10-12)

Zoor, house and tent; oh my – the words Yehovah chooses in expressing His eternal and unchanging message simply amaze me.

What we do with the information, which I am lovingly and painstakingly providing in this series and in all I write, will determine whether we have the inclination to live eternally with Yehovah as an Ezrach, or perish from the earth with the rest of the zoor.

The instruction in Torah that inspired this series is this one.

They (Israel’s seed; aka and perversely know as the children of Israel) shall no more slaughter [zeh-vach] their slaughterings [zeh-vach] to their se-i-rim’[?]; after whom they have gone a whoring. This shall be a statute forever for them throughout their generations. (Lev 17:7)

In most translations you will read something like this,

They shall no more offer their sacrifices to demons, after whom they have played the harlot. This shall be a statute forever for them throughout their generations. (Lev 17:7)

Offer, sacrifice, and demons are all English word which are translated in such a way as to mislead the reader from Yehovah’s set-apart ways in which he should go; especially as they relate with anything having to do with slaughters to Yehovah. I am sure this is mainly due to our perverted “Christian” understanding which we have learned from our fathers; worthless and unprofitable things.

The Hebrew word se-i-rim’ is translated in many ways; goats, demons, shaggy, he goats, fauns, devils, bucks. But to truly understand it’s use here, it must be understood in the context in which it is written.

The two verses just before it gave us (Yehovah’s son, Israel) the ways in which we were supposed to slaughter our cattle, sheep and goats.

To the end, that Israel’s seed shall come with their slaughterings which they [were] slaughtering in the open field, and come to Yehovah to the door of the tent of meeting, to the priest, and he [the man] shall slaughter His Thanksgiving Slaughter to Yehovah. And the priest shall sprinkle the blood on the altar of Yehovah at the door of the tent of meeting, and burn the fat for a sweet aroma to Yehovah. (Lev 17:5-6)

This word se-i-rim’ is being juxtaposed with the phrase “after whom they went a whoring.” Have we been whoring with goats? Demons? Or with other elohim besides Yehovah?

Meat sacrificed to idols - USDAIn my humble opinion it appears that any animal NOT slaughtered to Yehovah, and in accordance to His statutes (Leviticus 17 has all 5 of them), is an animal slaughtered to se-i-rim’. The meat that comes from all the grocery stores in the UNITED STATES is slaughtered according to THEIR statutes; and the agency that supervises the adherence to THEIR regulations is the USDA.

The UNITED STATES is the elohim whom most of my readers play the harlot with; so most of us do not have to worry about getting cut off from Yehovah’s people because we are not His. We still serve another elohim. When we are stopped by their armed forces and they say, “Your papers please,” your papers demonstrate just whom you serve; Yehovah, or the people of the land.

But for men like me, or men who want to become wholly Yehovah’s men, how we slaughter our meat is critical and if done incorrectly, can get us kicked out of the heavenly kingdom. This is the reason why James picked this 1st statute, “not eating meat sacrificed to idols” as the number 1 priority for the new Gerim (those just joining themselves to Yehovah’s kingdom) to know and understand. We talked about this in part 3.

So if we are not to eat meat slaughtered to other elohim and we no longer have a tabernacle, a temple or priesthood; does that mean that we can no longer eat cattle, sheep and goats? Does that mean we can only eat clean birds and wild clean game which we kill and drain their blood into the ground like water?

Well, believe it or not, Yehovah provided an answer to this question; but it is an answer that most of us with our perverted “christian” understanding will hardly even consider because we tend to believe that Yehovah does change and that His words don’t endure forever. Please, prepare your minds for the next part of this series and get ready to learn how we can receive a tremendous blessing from Yehovah.

Meat sacrificed to idols – 6

In part 5 we saw what is involved for an an ezrach, Yehovah’s son, Israel, who wants to serve beef, lamb or goat to his family, servants, and the Ger who dwells with him, while he is in or near the camp. The slaughter of this animal is called the “Thanksgiving Slaughter” or  (she-la-mim zeh-vach) and is done in accordance with Yehovah’s instructions, NOT the Kosher, Halal or even the United States Department of Agriculture’s instructions. And the Ezrach who kills (sha-khat) it, is the man who also eats it.

  • He selects his animal male or female (at least 8 days old or older)
  • He brings it alive to the brazen altar.
  • Lays his hand on the animal and kills it.
  • The priest catches some of the blood and puts it on the altar.
  • The man now butchers the animal and gives the priest the fat to burn on the altar.
  • The man also gives the priest the breast for a heave and the right thigh as a wave offering.
  • The rest of the meat belongs to the man and is food for him, his friends and those under his covering.

There are three different kinds of Thanksgiving Slaughters; the thank (to-dah) offering (kor-vawn), the vow and the freewill. For the purpose of this series I have concentrated on the most common one and the one that only a son of Yehovah, theEzrach, may bring to Him. There are just a few differences between these 3 kor-vawn and this chart should help us see them quickly. In each case they come from the herd (cattle) or the flock (sheep or goats).

*And a bull or a lamb or goat that has any limb too long or too short you may bring as a freewill, but for a vow it shall not be pleasing. (Lev 22:23)

What happens to this meat between the time it is killed and the next morning is critical to the man that killed it; it is the difference between him receiving a blessing from Yehovah or a curse. Most of the instructions regarding the handling, eating and disposal of this meat at the end of this time period are codified in Leviticus 7:11-21.

‘This is the torah (instructions) for a Thanksgiving Slaughter of which he shall bring near to Yehovah: If he brings it for a to-dah, then he shall bring, with the to-dah slaughter, unleavened cakes mixed with oil, and wafers anointed with oil, or cakes of blended flour mixed with oil. Besides the cakes, as his kor-vawn he shall bring leavened bread with a his slaughtered she-lem of to-dah (thanks). And he shall bring one cake for each offering as a heave offering to Yehovah. It shall belong to the priest who sprinkles the blood of the she-la-mim offering. ‘The flesh of a slaughter of his she-la-mim for thanks shall be eaten the same day it is offered. He shall not leave any of it until morning.
But if the slaughter of his kor-vawn is a vow or a freewill it shall be eaten the same day that he brings his slaughter; but on the next day the remainder of it also may be eaten; the remainder of the flesh of the slaughter on the third day must be burned with fire. And if any of the flesh of his Thanksgiving Slaughter is eaten at all on the third day, it shall not be accepted, nor shall it be imputed to him; it shall be an abomination to him who offers it, and the person who eats of it shall bear guilt. (Lev 7:11-18)

We only have one day to eat this meat, or two, in the case of a vow or freewill. It does not go into the refrigerator for a few days or into the freezer for months on end.

Now let’s find out how this meat is to be treated and who may eat it during this day.

Meat sacrificed to idols - place setting ‘The flesh [the meat of the animal] that touches any unclean thing [an object, a person, an animal] shall not be eaten. It shall be burned with fire. And as for the clean flesh, all who are clean may eat of it. But the person eats the flesh from the Thanksgiving Slaughter to Yehovah, while he is unclean, that person shall be cut off from his people. Moreover the person who touches any unclean thing, such as human uncleanness, an unclean animal, or any abominable unclean thing, and who eats the flesh from the Thanksgiving Slaughter to Yehovah, that person shall be cut off from his people.‘ ” (Lev 7:19-21)

Any wonder why James in Acts chapter 15 chose meat slaughtered and eaten incorrectly as the number one item that the new Ger MUST NOT do? There are lots of ways, in relation to the meats, which we eat that get us kicked out of Israel; and getting kicked out of Israel means no eternal life. This is part of the reason we must begin to understand what things can make us unclean (ta-mei).

“Speak to Aaron, to his sons, and to all My son, Israel, and say to them, ‘This is the thing which Yehovah has commanded, saying: “Any man of the house of Israel who kills an ox or lamb or goat in the camp, or who kills it outside the camp, and does not come to the door of the tent of meeting to bring his kor-vawn to Yehovah before the presence of Yehovah: the guilt of bloodshed shall be imputed to that man. He has shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people. (Lev 17:2-4)

This is what His son, His Ezrach, is NOT to do. Now He contrasts this with what Israel’s seed, Israel, is to do.

To the end, that Israel’s seed shall come with their slaughterings which they [were] slaughtering in the open field, and come to Yehovah to the door of the tent of meeting, to the priest, and he [the man] shall slaughter His Thanksgiving Slaughter to Yehovah. And the priest shall sprinkle the blood on the altar of Yehovah at the door of the tent of meeting, and burn the fat for a sweet aroma to Yehovah. (Lev 17:5-6)

The very next verse is where we will read, in most English translations, the words, “meat sacrificed to idols” and discover what is actually being said there. But before we do that, we must understand to whom our meats are currently slaughtered.

So next time we will compare how the meats most of us eat are slaughtered and learn the judgments of Yehovah that we can expect if we will not change our ways, to His eternal and unchanging ways.

Meat sacrificed to idols – 5

So what are some of the things we have seen so far in this series?

  • Part 1 – The offering or kor-van that a man brings to Yehovah is all about “drawing near” to him.
  • Part 2 – “Sacrifice” is not a word used in Torah. It is used to cover up the word zeh-vach which means “slaughter; and a slaughter is ALWAYS eaten by the man who killed it. All the other places that the word “sacrifice” is used is simply added to the text.
  • Part 3 – James commanded that the new ger, the man who left his old elohim (lawmakers and judges) and turned into the way that leads to life to no longer eat meat sacrificed to idols. We also saw an overview of how Israel is to treat all their slaughtered clean meat in Leviticus 17.
  • Part 4 – All meat that comes from the herd (cattle) or the flocks (sheep and goats) MUST be brought alive to Yehovah and slaughtered as a she-la-mim before His altar; and the man who does not do this is cut off from among his people. I must stress here the importance of bringing our thanksgiving slaughter to Yehovah.

The she-la-mim is commonly called the “peace offering.” The Hebrew word she-la-mim is the plural form of the word she-lem.

It appears to me that the word she-la-mim is the qualitative plural because the One being thanked is the qualitative Elohim (THE lawmaker and judge or the whole earth). As I read Torah, this is a “thanksgiving slaughter.” Leviticus 7 makes this very clear for me.

‘This is the law [to-rah] for the thanksgiving [ha-she-la-mim] slaughter [zeh-vach] which he shall bring near to Yehovah.  If it is for thanks [to-dah], he shall bring what he brings with the thanks [ha-to-dah] slaughter [zeh-vach]: unleavened cakes mixed with oil, unleavened wafers anointed with oil, or cakes of blended flour mixed with oil. (Lev 7:11-12)

We bring our thanksgiving [she-la-mim] slaughter [zeh-vach] to Yehovah because He is the one who gave us the increase of the herd and the increase of the flocks; the thanksgiving [ha-she-la-mim] slaughter [zeh-vach] is His way for us to give Him the honor He deserves for giving us the increase. Speaking to His son, Israel, Moses says,

“Then it shall come to pass, because you listen to these judgments, and keep and do them, that Yehovah your Elohim will keep with you the covenant and the mercy which He swore to your fathers. And He will love you and bless you and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flock, in the land of which He swore to your fathers to give you. (Deu 7:12-13)

The thanksgiving [ha-she-la-mim] slaughter [zeh-vach] can come from either the herd or the flock, it can be male or female and must be at least 8 days old. It is brought alive (whole) to Yehovah’s altar and then killed by the man who brought it. Leviticus 3 gives Yehovah’s instructions for the thanksgiving [ha-she-la-mim] slaughter [zeh-vach]; first for the herd (verses 1-5) and then the lamb (verses 7-11) and then the goat (verses 12-16). Since they are all done (pretty much) the same, I am only going to address the thanksgiving [ha-she-la-mim] slaughter; [zeh-vach] that comes from the herd.

And if his offering [kor-van] is a thanksgiving [she-la-mim] slaughter [zeh-vach], if it is of the herd, whether male or female, he shall bring it alive and whole [taw-meem] to Yehovah. (Lev 3:1)

And Yehovah spoke to Moses, saying: “When a bull or a sheep or a goat is born, it shall be seven days with its mother; and from the eighth day and thereafter it shall be pleasing as fire offering to Yehovah. Whether it is a cow or ewe, do not kill both her and her young on the same day. And when you brings a thanksgiving slaughter to Yehovah, of your own free will you shall slaughter it. (Lev 22:26-29)

Our slaughters walk in with us.

And he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering, and kill it at the door of the tent of meeting; and Aaron’s sons, the priests, shall sprinkle the blood all around on the altar. (Lev 3:2)

It is the man, not the priest, who lays his hand on the animal’s head and kills (sha-khat) it. At the same time the priest catches some of the animal’s blood in order to put some of it on the altar. Both the tabernacle and the temple have places for the slaughtered animal to be hung up, drained of its blood and butchered as needed. In this case the man removes the fat and the kidneys and then gives it to the priest to burn on the altar as a sweet aroma to Yehovah.

And he shall bring from the thanksgiving [ha-she-la-mim] slaughter [zeh-vach] a portion unto Yehovah’s fire: the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails, the two kidneys and the fat that is on them by the flanks, and the fatty lobe attached to the liver above the kidneys, he shall remove; and Aaron’s son shall burn it on the altar as the rising or ascending [ha-o-lah], which is on the wood that is on the fire, the raising, a sweet aroma to Yehovah. (Lev 3:3-5)

That is it! These are the Yehovah’s instructions for our thanksgiving slaughter. The priest, for his services, gets a wave offering (which is the breast of the animal) and a heave offering (the right thigh).

“Speak to My son, Israel, saying: ‘He who brings his thanksgiving [she-la-mim] slaughter [zeh-vach] to Yehovah shall bring his offering [kor-van] to Yehovah from his thanksgiving [she-la-mim] slaughter [zeh-vach]; his own hands shall bring the offerings made by fire to Yehovah: the fat with the breast he shall bring, that the breast may be waved as a wave offering before Yehovah. And the priest shall burn the fat on the altar, but the breast shall be Aaron’s and his sons’. Also the right thigh you shall give to the priest as a heave offering from your thanksgiving [she-la-mim] slaughter [zeh-vach]. He among the sons of Aaron, who offers the blood of the thanksgiving [ha-she-la-mim] and the fat, shall have the right thigh for his part.
For the breast of the wave offering and the thigh of the heave offering I have taken from My son, Israel, from their thanksgiving [she-la-mim] slaughters [zeh-vach], and I have given them to Aaron the priest and to his sons from My son, Israel by a statute forever.’ “  (Lev 7:29-34)

So the spiritually born son of Yehovah and the head of his family, his servants and the Ger who dwells with him decided he wanted a meal with beef. He selected the animal (probably a young bull) which he wanted from the herd or purchased one. He then brought his thanksgiving slaughter to the tabernacle and killed it there. Then he cut it up and gave the priest the fat, the wave and the heave offerings. Now the remainder of the meat is for him, his friends and those under his covering.

Next time we will see who gets to eat this meat and the time span in which this meat must be eaten.
