A quick Google search for the word “belial” reveals that most Christians and those who follow Judaism believe that this word is a proper noun and a synonym for Satan; and many translators follow this same tradition by capitalizing “Belial” when it comes up. But belial is not a man, a god, or Satan. Belial means wicked, lawless and worthless; and the sons of belial (Really, belial’s seed) are worthless generations of men..

בליעל
be-liy-ya‛al: A masculine noun of unknown origin meaning worthlessness. Often a strong moral component in the context suggests the state of being good for nothing and therefore expresses the concept of wickedness. (Word Study)בּליּעל
bel-e-yah’-al
From H1097 and H3276; without profit, worthlessness; by extension destruction, wickedness. (Strong’s)Men have gone out, belial’s son/seed [×‘× ×™ בליעל, beni belial], from among you and have misled the inhabitants of their city saying, “Let us go and serve other elohim [other lawmakers and judges] which ye have not known.” (Deu 13:13)
Now therefore, know and consider what you will do, for harm is determined against our master [Nabal] and against all his household. For he is such a son/seed of belial [×‘× ×™ בליעל, beni belial] that one cannot speak to him.” (1Sa 25:17)
Please, let not my master regard the wicked [הבליעל, ha-belial] Nabal. For as his name is, so is he: Nabal is his name, and folly is with him! But I, your maidservant, did not see the young men of my master whom you sent. (1Sa 25:25)
Now Eli’s sons were belial’s seed [×‘× ×™ בליעל, beni belial]; they did not know Yehovah. (1Sa 2:12)
Well, knowing Yehovah is the goal, or should be the goal of every man who has left his old elohim and made Yehovah, his only Elohim.
Seed Of Belial / Belial’s Seed
Beni are always male and heads of their household; Beni is the Hebrew way of saying “son of” or “seed of” someone (a proper noun, like Esau, Jacob, Heth, Israel) or something (a substantive noun, like righteousness or wickedness).
The direct opposite of belial seed [×‘× ×™ בליעל, beni belial] is Israel’s son/seed [×‘× ×™ ישׂר×ל, beni Israel]; wicked men [eesh] of the flesh vs righteous and spiritually born Ezrach men. This latter group is the men whom Yehovah brought out of Egypt; they came into covenant with Him at Passover and now serve only Him, their new Elohim. And this is what Deuteronomy 13 is all about. Men who turn Yehovah’s called-out men, Israel, away from following His statutes, His judgments and His ordinances in order to serve other elohim [other lawmakers and judges].
“I am Yehovah, your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other elohim existing before My face.” (Exo 20:2-3)
Some of these belial men in Israel may even give signs and wonders, some may prophecy and dream things that actually come to pass, BUT none of them turn men away from the doctrines and traditions of men and encourage Israel to remain faithful to, and serve only, Yehovah. These wicked men are currently among those who call themselves Israel and we need to root them out! We are not talking about any Gentiles here; they are already wicked and have never left their elohim [their lawmakers and judges] whom they serve.
In this chapter Yehovah is commanding Israel’s seed, those who have Yehovah as their only Elohim to destroy, wipe from the face of the earth, all who try to turn us from following only Yehovah; with the end result of purging all the wickedness from our land.
But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has spoken in order to turn you away from Yehovah, your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of bondage, to entice you from the way in which Yehovah, your Elohim commanded you to walk. So you shall put away the evil from your midst. (Deu 13:5)
“If your brother, the son of your mother, your son or your daughter, the wife of your bosom, or your friend who is as your own soul, secretly entices you, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other elohim,’ which you have not known, neither you nor your fathers, of the elohim of the people who are all around you, near to you or far off from you, from one end of the earth to the other end of the earth, you shall not consent to him or listen to him, nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him or conceal him; but you shall surely kill him; your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. (Deu 13:6-9)
“If you hear someone in one of your cities, which Yehovah, your Elohim gives you to dwell in, saying, ‘belial’s son/seed [×‘× ×™ בליעל, beni belial] have gone out from among you and enticed the inhabitants of their city, saying, “Let us go and serve other elohim”‘ —which you have not known—then you shall inquire, search out, and ask diligently. And if it is indeed true and certain that such an abomination was committed among you, you shall surely strike the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying it, all that is in it and its livestock—with the edge of the sword. (Deu 13:12-15)
This last example is exactly what was going on in Gibeah.
As they were enjoying themselves, suddenly certain men of the city, belial’s son/seed [×‘× ×™ בליעל, belial beni], surrounded the house and beat on the door. They spoke to the master of the house, the old man, saying, “Bring out the man who came to your house, that we may know him carnally!” (Jdg 19:22)
Now therefore, deliver up the men, belial’s son/seed [×‘× ×™ בליעל, belial beni] who are in Gibeah, that we may put them to death and remove the evil from Israel!” But Benjamin’s seed would not listen to the voice of their brethren, Israel’s seed. (Jdg 20:13)
Israel’s seed serves only Yehovah; and He, speaking to the 144,000, the male-child, says,
“You are My witnesses,” says Yehovah, “and My servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no Elohim formed, nor shall there be after Me. I, even I, am Yehovah, and besides Me there is no savior. (Isa 43:10-11)
In the last days as Yehovah brings Israel’s seed back to Himself, what do you suppose will happen to all those who say, “Jesus” or “Yeshua is Elohim”?
So much to learn, so little time!
