Precept 7 – Men And Women In Torah

men and women in TorahThis is the beginning of a series of essays/blogs which have been put together to help refocus the thinking of those precious souls, both men and women, who truly desire to follow only Yehovah’s created purpose for their life. This information is not for the faint of heart nor for those who love the world and the doctrines and traditions of men more than Yehovah’s everlasting and unchanging ways. We have all been trained in the broad way and getting back to the old paths, the ancient ways, the high way of Yehovah and the narrow path requires a constant renewing of the mind to only Yehovah’s ways for a man and his woman.

My own 24 year marriage was destroyed almost from the beginning because I was ignorant of the scriptures. I had not taught my family the way they should go and only knew the ways that I had learned from my own parents, teachers and pastors who were teaching the same things that they had learned. But none of these wonderful people had ever turned to the ways of Yehovah and lived and taught them.

My prayer is that perhaps something you read may save your family from going through what my family went through and give you a preview, in your own family unit, of just how wonderful Yehovah’s kingdom will be for those who will conform their lives to His created purpose.

The things I have seen in Yehovah’s word and tried to put to print here will probably challenge you to the very core and probably even make you angry. I have lost many friends who just could not handle this information; so please read it prayerfully. The moment we reject truth, especially what should be fundamental truth, we are prevented from pursuing a deeper relationship with Yehovah, His word and His Kingdom. May Yehovah guide your thoughts and emotions and open your heart as you read these essays.

Here is an audio teaching from my Sabbath Class on thecreation of “the man” and “his woman” in Genesis 2  and two articles; one on the “Creation of ‘the man‘” and the other on the “Creation of woman.” You would greatly benefit from understanding this information and will see how well everything else I write agrees with it.

men and women, men and women in Torah, Adultery, polygyny, polygamy, adultery vs polygyny, Exodus 20 14Men And Women Have different Duties And Responsibilities In Yehovah’s Kingdom

As a thirteen year old in the mid sixties I remember sitting in my Sunday school class, with a half-dozen other young men, when we began to notice that there are changes between one Bible translation and another. You can see these differences to this day! The sons of Israel in one translation are called the “children” of Israel in others. I was appalled even as a boy, but impotent to even express my rage at seeing Yehovah’s word being treated so poorly. Thankfully I am no longer unable to express my rage at this major distortion of Yehovah’s word and I have written MANY blogs to educate folks as to the difference and the importance of it. Here is a link to the first of those blogs entitled “Who are the son’s of Israel?” and a second article called Sons and Daughters. These are a good place to begin to relearn Yehovah’s created purpose for men and women. I believe this perversion was done primarily because our Bible translators were and are ignorant of Yehovah’s word; and, in part, to include women among the sons of the Israel who Yehovah was speaking to. But how is doing this not changing His word?

You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of Yehovah your Elohim which I command you. (Deu 4:2)

Does not this addition become a distortion of His image on the earth? Is that acceptable to you?

Many are saying to themselves, “now Michael, don’t be so picky; don’t you know that men and women are all treated the same by Yehovah?”

And I too thought that for a very long time. But then my eyes were opened to many of Yehovah’s ways that did not conform to this false idea in my mind which is joyfully accepted by so many.

Men And Women Are Not Treated The Same In Torah

In Yehovah’s word men and women have differing duties and responsibilities and I want to try to point out just a few of the more blatant examples in the scriptures. Please understand that I am not trying to demean the fairer sex, “Yehovah bless them one and all.” I only want to be a catalyst to strengthen all our precious families and Yehovah’s people in general. We can choose to keep the false ideas we have learned or we can choose to align our lives with Yehovah’s eternal and unchanging instructions. I will always chose the latter.

The Hebrew word for son is (reading right to left is Bet, Nun) בנ or ben; while the word בנים (reading right to left is Bet, Nun, Yod, Mem) or – beni is the plural form of ben, meaning sons. But there is a third variation of this word, which is בני (reading right to left is Bet, Nun, Yod) or beni (or benai); this word can be used in the plural and in the singular and carries both a physical sense as the male seed over many generations of a specific man and can also carry a spiritual sense as one “born in the land: or the seed of spiritually born seed; regardless we are ALWAYS talking about men, multi-generational seed. If this particular word is not followed by a proper noun it should be read as “my son.”

The differences between these three words is discussed at length In my writing called “Sons and Daughters In Torah.”

It is impossible to learn the difference between these three words without reading the Hebrew text because these word are all numbered as Strong’s H1121. Never forget, James Strong was not a man who ever repented and turned to Yehovah’s ways, he was not interested in learning and doing Torah.

Jeff Benner in his Ancient Hebrew Lexicon of the Bible says the following about the root word ben:

(בנ  BN) ac: Build co: Tent panel ab: Intelligence: The pictograph ב is a picture of the tent. The י  is a picture of a sprouting seed and represents continuity as the seed continues the next generation. The combined meaning of these letters mean “the continuing of the house”. The tent was constructed of woven goat hair. Over time the sun bleaches and weakens the goat hair necessitating their continual replacement. Each year the women make a new panel, about 3 feet wide and the length of the tent. The old panel is removed (being recycled into a wall or floor) and the new strip is added to the tent. Since the tent is only replaced one small piece at a time the tent essentially lasts forever.

(בנ  BN) ac: ? co: Tent Panel ab: ?: There are many similarities between building a tent out of goat hair panels and the building of a house out of sons (The idea of building a house with sons can be seen in Genesis 30.3). Just as the tent panels are added to continue the tent, sons are born to the family to continue the family line. Just as the tent is continually being renewed with new panels, the family is continually being renewed with new sons.

(בנ  BN) – Son: One who continues the family line.

As I said above, the בני however, are never women and in a literal translation like Young’s or the Literal Translation this word is translated better. But the point of this article is to begin to understand that men and women are not treated the same in the eyes of Yehovah. Here are some examples to demonstrate this fact.

Whenever Israel was numbered, it was only the males who were counted.

Then Israel’s seed [בני ישׂראל, beni Israel] journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men [“geborim” or fighting men] on foot, besides children [taph]. (Exo 12:37)

“Take a census of all the congregation of Israel’s seed [בני ישׂראל], by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, every male individually, from twenty years old and above – all who are able to go to war in Israel. You and Aaron shall number them by their armies. (Num 1:2-3)

There are no women warriors in Israel; they would make our camp unclean and Yehovah would not fight for us.

A man can make void the vows of “his women” (there is no word for wife in Torah) or his daughters, but his own vow will always stand.

See Numbers chapter 30.

Men are not to dress like a women, nor vice versa.

A woman shall not wear anything that pertains to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman’s garment, for all who do so are an abomination to Yehovah, your Elohim. (Deu 22:5)

Only the men are required to attend the feasts three times per year.

“Three times in the year all your males [זכור or zaw-koor]  shall appear before the master Yehovah.” (Exo 23:17)

“Three times in the year all your males [זכור or zaw-koor] shall appear before the master Yehovah, Elohim of Israel.” (Exo 34:23)

Women never go to Passover or Shavuot, and they are only allowed at Sukkot once every 7 years.

Jeff Benner speaking of the זכור says,

Male: The one of the family that remembers and passes down the family history through story and family name. Also the one who acts and speaks for the family.

Yehovah gave the Torah, His instructions, to Israel’s seed, His Ezrach men.

This truth can seen over and over once we begin to look for it; here is a handful of overt examples.

So Moses went down from the mountain to the people and sanctified the people [Ezrach men people], and they washed their clothes. And he said to the people, “Be ready for the third day; do not come near a women.” (Exo 19:14-15)

“You [the men] shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s woman [not husband], nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.” (Exo 20:17)

You [the Ezrach men] shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. Nor shall you mate with any animal, to defile yourself with it. Nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it. It is perversion. (Lev 18:22-23)

And when Yehovah, your Elohim delivers it [the Gentile city] into your hands, you shall strike every male in it with the edge of the sword. But the women, the little ones, the livestock, and all that is in the city, all its spoil, you shall plunder for yourself; and you shall eat the enemies’ plunder which Yehovah, your Elohim gives you. (Deu 20:13-14)

“Then the officers shall speak to the people, saying:  -What man is there who has built a new house and has not dedicated it? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle and another man dedicate it. Also what man is there who has planted a vineyard and has not eaten of it? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle and another man eat of it. And what man is there who is betrothed to a woman and has not married her? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle and another man marry her.” (Deu 20:5-7)

If he [the man] takes another woman (nowhere is woman allowed to take a second husband), he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, and her marriage rights. And if he does not do these three for her, then she shall go out free, without paying money. (Exo 21:10-11)

Oh my – am I in trouble now! Remember, these are not my laws, only my examples.

The first-born males of Israel’s families and flocks belong to Yehovah.

“All that open the womb are Mine, and every male firstborn among your livestock, whether ox or sheep. But the firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb. And if you will not redeem him, then you shall break his neck. All the firstborn of your sons you shall redeem. And none shall appear before Me empty-handed.” (Exo 34:19-20)

You shall set apart to Yehovah all that open the womb, that is, every firstborn that comes from an animal which you have; the males (זכור) shall be Yehovah’s. But every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. And all the firstborn of man among your sons (בבניך) you shall redeem. (Exo 13:12-13)

After childbirth a woman is (טמא) tamei or unclean for differing lengths of time depending on whether she has borne a son or a daughter.

” Speak to Israel’s seed, saying: ‘If a woman [not “if you”] has conceived, and borne a male child, then she shall be unclean seven days; as in the days of her customary impurity she shall be unclean. …  ‘But if she bears a female child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, … (Lev 12:2-5)

The priests of Yehovah are all men.

Then Moses brought Aaron and his sons (בנים) and washed them with water. (Lev 8:6)

‘He who is the high priest among his brethren, on whose head the anointing oil was poured and who is consecrated to wear the garments, shall not uncover his head nor tear his clothes; nor shall he go near any dead body, nor defile himself for his father or his mother; nor shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his Elohim; for the consecration of the anointing oil of his Elohim is upon him: I am Yehovah. And he shall take a woman in her virginity. A widow or a divorced woman or a defiled woman or a harlot–these he shall not marry; but he shall take a virgin of his own people as his woman. (Lev 21:10-14)

The daughter of any priest, if she profanes herself by playing the harlot, she profanes her father. She shall be burned with fire. (Lev 21:9)

144,000 – Virgin of Israel, Yehovah’s servants are all men!

These are the ones who were not defiled with women (they are men), for they are virgins.

These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. (Rev 14:4)

Being a virgin, who is not defiled by women has nothing to do with sexuality and everything to do with the absence of harlotry in the lives of the 144,000 servants of Yehovah; but that riddle is revealed in the link above.

Learning The Differing Roles For Men and Women Is Not Easy, We Have Learned Lies

Men and women are not equal and were even created differently. Adam was created in the image of Yehovah and the woman was created as an aide suitable for him. If any of Yehovah’s ways go against what seems right to us, we had better get over it. Yehovah’s kingdom is coming very soon and His will will be done on earth, just as it is in heaven; just as it should be done now! Men and women have different duties and responsibilities in the kingdom of Elohim; if we confuse these differences, we distort Yehovah’s image on the earth.

    1. Yes Carol, this is very sad! My job, every teachers job and every man’s women job is to encourage and support YHVH’s men, to become leaders and the true heads of their household once again. There is much unlearning we all, men and women alike, must do for YHVH to once again have His way in our families. The start for us all is to renounce the ways of this world and be transformed by the renewing of our minds to our heavenly Fathers unchanging and eternal ways and then do them.

  1. If a woman is divorced by an unsaved unrepentant husband, who does not did not live according to Torah….what are her options in the future? Can she marry again according to the Torah , if she desires to live according to the Torah? I am speaking here of the Gentiles not those of the Jewish heritage.

    1. Good question Vivian!

Yehovah’s statutes, judgments and ordinances are for all mankind whether they will repent and join themselves His holy people or not. This has nothing to do with blood. EVERYONE will be judged according to His ways. A woman that has been divorced by here husband can always take another husband. The only limitation is that once she has been with another husband she can never return to the former husband.

“When a man takes a woman and marries her, and it happens that she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some uncleanness in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house, when she has departed from his house, and goes and becomes another man’s, if the latter man detests her and writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house, or if the latter husband dies who took her as his woman, then her former man who divorced her must not take her back to be his woman after she has been defiled; for that is an abomination before Yehovah, and you shall not bring sin on the land which Yehovah your God is giving you as an inheritance. (Deu 24:1-4)

There are passages in the NT commentaries that will have you think differently than what Torah plainly teaches. But we must always remember to be good Bereans who search the scriptures daily to see if what ANYONE says is so. We are not allowed to add to or takeaway from Yehovah’s words given through Moses and the Prophets.

To the Torah and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. (Isa 8:20)

Thanks for reading Vivian and responding, there are 3 more parts.

  2. I divorced my husband and believe if he were to remarry his sin would be my sin. Also believe I have no option but to remain single based on my understanding of the bible unless I were to remarry my ex or he were to die. May YeHoVaH bless him with the understand of what his role is and long life as I wish him no ill.

Is that your understanding regarding my situation? Thank you for responding.

    1. Hi Regina – I hope you slept well – I know you were on my blog until very late last night. Thanks for talking the time to read through that coming out series. There is so much that needs to be understood before I can give answers to all your questions. There are many things that we assume are true that simply do not have any support in the scriptures and I can not address your questions without dealing without dealing with the “False Images” that we all have in our minds first.

That said, please let me guide your studies a bit. The next series I would suggest you read is the one called “False Images,” it starts here. http://weareisrael.org/false-images/

Next please listen to “Loving Yehovah God 101” http://weareisrael.org/getting-started/loving-yhvh-god-101/

Then the men and Women series; here is the first of that series. http://weareisrael.org/men-and-women/

Finally the “Born Again” series is a must. http://weareisrael.org/born-again-series/

We learn the word by building precept upon precept, line upon line, here a little and there a little. As Paul says it is all about “renewing our mind to Yehovah’s good and acceptable and perfect will. Getting through all this information is not the goal, learning it is. We get to KNOW the creator by learning his word.

I am always available for a phone call. So please do not hesitate to call. I love those who seek to learn Yehovah’s ways like men search for silver and fine gold. It is a LOT of work, but the finding is oh, so good!

  3. Hi Michael,

I wanted to thank you for your work on the Men and Women in scripture articles.

I started teaching this series to my family last Sabbath. I find your reasoning to be scripturally sound.

As always, with teaching something new, I verified everything in scripture and for the first time realized that Torah was specifically given to MEN. I find it intriguing that even the instructions to a woman regarding childbirth are given to the SONS or MEN.

In addition, the Father opened my eyes to the fact that the covenant was given to MEN – namely, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the sons of Israel. This covenant was not given to the women. I believe that the women were included in the covenant by default – because they belong to the man!

The MEN are the elders! The MEN are the judges! The MEN are the rulers! The MEN are the priests! The MEN carried out the punishments for breaking Torah! Only the MEN were required to attend the feasts!

I have literally read these scriptures hundreds of times and did not hear what they were saying!

It is amazing how changing one little word like “sons” to “children” can pollute our minds and blind us to the truth!

    GREAT STUFF!!!

    Keep up the good work!

    Jason Stelter

    1. Thanks Jason!

It is so refreshing to have someone begin to see some of the wealth of information that I am trying so hard to give away. The truth will always set us free, but the lies we have learned are deadly.

Making “the sons of Israel” or better said “My son, Israel” “the children of Israel” perverts the entirety of the word to such an extant that it prevents any future and deeper understandings of Yehovah’s word and ways. This one truth will turn the light on to seeing so much more and, at the same time, save many marriages from rune.

      1. Thanks for the question Billie. This is one that many people have and most of them use the story of Deborah to justify actions that are not in accordance with Yehovah eternal and unchanging ways for his men and their women. I talk about this story in my blog called the “Jezebel Spirit.” I hope it helps you gain greater understanding.

  4. Hello I’m new to your Articles and I’m interested with them Deeply as I am on my Spiritual Walk and is wanting to Follow My Creator Word with all my Mind Heart and Soul. I’m not married by Law but I’m in a Relationship and the Man I’m with has the Potential to be fully Righteous there is some things he has to Work on and I pray for him daily. Wanted to ask though Does this Article apply to an unmarried Woman that doesn’t have a Marriage Certificate?

    1. Hi Neshia!

This article applies to all men and women. A marriage license is a man-made convention, my wife and I don’t have one; but what we do have is a marriage covenant. I have written a lot about the role of a woman and the best place to start is with the article called “A Woman Of Worth“.

      thanks for the comment,

      Michael
