Getting a correct understanding of the Feasts of Yehovah (the LORD) is very difficult in light of the doctrines and traditions of men that we have learned from our fathers and forefathers. Many believe, I fear to their own destruction, that some of the feasts of Yehovah are already fulfilled and have no bearing in the coming last days. This would be a grave mistake!

Yom Kippur rim is the Day of Coverings
“Also the tenth day of this seventh month shall be the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur rim). It shall be a holy convocation for you (Israel); you shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire to Yehovah. And you shall do no work on that same day, for it is the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur rim), to make atonement (Yom Kippur rim) for you before Yehovah, your Elohim (lawmaker, judge-God). For any person who is not afflicted in soul on that same day shall be cut off from his people. And any person who does any work on that same day, that person I will destroy from among his people. You shall do no manner of work; it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. It shall be to you a sabbath of solemn rest, and you shall afflict your souls; on the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening, you shall celebrate your sabbath.” (Lev 23:27-32)
The focus on this day begins on the first day of the seventh month, Yom Teruah, with a great shout and warning “REPENT, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!!!”
Yom Kippur rim – Only Israel Is Covered On This Day
There will be no Gentiles covered on this day; either we are Israel or we are not covered! The ten days between Yom Teruah and Yom Kippur rim is all about Israel getting their heart right before Yehovah. Will they parish or continue with Him?
[Note: The Hebrew Calendar created each spring after the aviv moon is sighted.]
In my opinion the word “atonement” brings religious confusion when used in the verse above; it is translated from the Hebrew word הכפרים, in English the kippur rim and literally means “the coverings” (plural). On this day the High Priest makes coverings for many things and people. First himself and his family (his fellow priests, see Lev. 16:33), the Holy (which is where the ark of the testimony resides), the golden altar, the Tabernacle and last, but not least, all Israel (the male child); it is a day of coverings! If the men are covered, so are their families.
The Hebrew word כפר, kaphar, (singular of Kippur rim) is the same word used by Yehovah to describe what was done with the tar or pitch that was placed on the inside and the outside of the ark that Noah built. I believe that this is no accident that this set apart day uses the same word. This day is covering for all those who will survive the catastrophic destruction of the earth this second time.
Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover (כפר) it inside and outside with pitch. (Gen 6:14)
In Leviticus chapter 16 Yehovah gives Israel all the instructions needed for their High Priest to make the coverings for all that must be covered on this most important day.
But I will establish My covenant with thee; and thou shall go into the ark – “thou, thy sons, thy woman, and thy sons’ women with thee. (Gen 6:18)
Thus Noah did; according to all that Elohim commanded him, so he did. (Gen 6:22)

What does it mean to “afflict your soul”? Most want to try to understand this admonition in their flesh and fail to realize that it is about the spirit. In Yom Kippur rim (2) – A Day To Afflict Your Soul I try to develop this heavenly understanding.
Finally, in Yom Kippur rim (3) – Yehovah Will Decide! I try to give greater understanding to what is going on with the two identical goats and what they have to do with the lot that decides which one will die, and which one will live and go in the wilderness. These are all parts of a much bigger picture.
