I am so frustrated with all the pollution and confusion that has made its way into the New Testament (NT); the more I learn Torah, the more I see the perversions in the NT which we, even I, accepted as truth for the majority of my life. It breaks my heart to think of all the billions of lives that have been ruined and precious souls that have been lost because we have treated the NT commentaries as the words of Yehovah.
We are not allowed to add to or subtract from the words that Yehovah gave to us through Moses!
As we saw in part 1 of this “Divorce and Remarriage” series, a woman NEVER divorces her man in Torah; yet the NT would have you believe it IS acceptable to do so.
Then we found in part 2 that there are no women living alone and uncovered in Yehovah’s kingdom.
When will we begin to listen to what Paul has to say, and then search the scriptures to see if what he, or anyone else, says is so?
Then the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. These [men} were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. (Act 17:10-11)
Which “scriptures” did the fair-minded Bereans search? There is only one answer. The only scriptures they had were Moses and the Prophets! These are the same scriptures that Timothy had known from his childhood.
But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Yeshua. All Scripture is given by inspiration of Elohim, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of Elohim may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2Ti 3:14-17)
Today we must discuss yet more lies that many, most, have accepted as true concerning remarriage in the NT; but which have no foundation in Moses or Yehovah’s other prophets. Here is what Yehovah says about divorce and remarriage. It is short and clear.
“When a man takes a woman and marries her, and it happens that she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some uncleanness in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house, when she has departed from his house, and goes and becomes another man’s. If the latter man detests her and writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house, or if the latter husband dies who took her as his woman, then her former man who divorced her must not take her back to be his woman after she has been defiled; for that is an abomination before Yehovah, and you shall not bring sin on the land which Yehovah, your Elohim is giving you as an inheritance. (Deu 24:1-4)
That is it! This is all Yehovah says about divorce and remarriage and we are not allowed to add to it or subtract from it.
You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of Yehovah your Elohim which I command you. (Deu 4:2)
“Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it. (Deu 12:32)
Every word of Elohim is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar. (Pro 30:5-6)
The NT commentaries, however, have Yeshua (in red 🙂 ) telling Israel that if a woman remarries after she is given a bill of divorcement, she commits adultery and man who marries her also commits adultery.
“Furthermore it has been said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’ But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery. (Mat 5:31-32)
“But I say to you”? “But I say to you“? Helllooo! Except for sexual immorality? Commits adultery? Do we even know what adultery is? Most don’t! Didn’t we just finish reading that we can not add to or subtract from Yehovah’s word? Can any true king of Israel rule by anything other than Yehovah’s statutes, judgments and ordinances? Did Yeshua really say this? If he did he would be found a liar.
Folks, the NT is filled with this _ _ _ _, these false ideas, these doctrines and traditions of men which lead us away from Yehovah’s eternal and unchanging ways. Here is another one “in red“.
So he said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her. (Mar 10:11)
This is soooo wrong, it is actually funny. This is what comes from rejecting Torah!
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; because you have forgotten the law [Torah] of your Elohim, I also will forget your sons. (Hos 4:6)
Look what the Creator says about a man having more than one wife; and what He says through Isaiah concerning the coming last days. Is this adultery?
If he takes another wife, he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, and her marriage rights. (Exo 21:10)
And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, “We will eat our own food and wear our own apparel; only let us be called by your name, to take away our reproach.” (Isa 4:1)
Talking about plural marriages, look what it says even in the NT.
A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach … (1Ti 3:2)
Let deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. (1Ti 3:12)
Notice: It does not say “let them be husbands,” it says “husbands of one wife.” Does that mean that men had more than one wife during Yeshua’s time and after also? Does Yehovah change? Does His word Endure forever? Perhaps a man with multiple wives was too busy at home to serve the community at large. And where is a bishop or deacon even mentioned in the scriptures? Could they be the “rulers of 10s, 50s and 100s”? Maybe.
So why would seven women join themselves to one man? They told us! They are doing it to “take away their reproach“. What is their reproach?
These women have now come to realize that they have no relationship with the Creator without a man in their life. Most will not understand why I say this because they do not understand what the woman was created for. It is for this reason that a woman who is divorced MUST find another covering, another man or go back to her blood family. This is what the story of Naomi and Ruth is all about; finding a new covering for themselves. Naomi had to find a near of kin and Ruth could have gone back to her father and mother, but they wanted a righteous man.
A man can remain single after a divorce, but that is not an acceptable option for a woman. Next time we will look at what some of the options are for a woman who is now beginning to see the truth of Yehovah’s word and now finds herself alone and uncovered.
