Most people assume that because beni Israel is translated as the perverted words “the children of Israel” that all “Israel” (men women servants) are treated the same before Yehovah. This assumption is a deadly one for those who truly desire to become Yehovah’s called out people. The truth is that the application of Torah is different for men women servants and even the Ger who dwell with them.
We have seen in past weeks that benai Israel is, in fact, only Yehovah’s spiritually born men; His Ezrach. We have seen many times that they only are the ones that Yehovah brought out of Egypt and that it the “mixed heads of families” or Ger, who came “with them”; His Ezrach men.
One Law For The Ezrach And The Ger Who Dwell With Them
There is one law for the native born (Ezrach] and the stranger [Ger] who dwell with them.
One law shall be for the native-born man [Ezrach] and for the stranger [Ger] who dwells among you.” (Exo 12:49)
You shall have one law for him who sins unintentionally, for him who is native-born [Ezrach] among Israel’s seed and for the stranger [Ger] who dwells among them. ‘But the person who does anything presumptuously, whether he is native-born [Ezrach] or a stranger [Ger], that one brings reproach on Yehovah, and he shall be cut off from among his people. (Num 15:29-30)
The stranger [Ger] who dwells among you shall be to you as one born among you [Ezrach], and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers [Gerim] in the land of Egypt: I am Yehovah your Elohim. (Lev 19:34)
The Application Of All Yehovah’s Laws For Men Women Servants Are Different
We have seen that only the Ezrach picked up the manna and that Yehovah gave His commandments only to His Ezrach men.
This week in our Sabbath class we saw once again that what is good for the goose is not good for the gander; or to phrase it more directly, Yehovah laws apply differently to men women servants and the Ger.
We saw that a Hebrew servant (a man) goes free in the seventh year, while the daughter of a man who is sold as a female servant does NOT go free at that time.
“And if a man sells his daughter to be a female slave, she shall not go out as the male slaves do. (Exo 21:7)
The master can take one of his female servants to himself, give her to his son or even give her to one of his male servants for his woman. Does she have a choice in the matter? She is that man’s property.
Women And Servants Are Property Of The Ezrach
The 10th Commandments makes it very clear that women and servants are the property of there adon (master).
“Thou shall not covet thy neighbor’s house; thou shall not covet thy neighbor’s woman, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is thy neighbor’s.” (Exo 20:17)
“And if a man beats his male or female servant with a rod, so that he dies under his hand, he shall surely be punished. Notwithstanding, if he remains alive a day or two, he shall not be punished; for he [or she] is his property. (Exo 21:20-21)
Yet Yehovah says that he who strikes a man (an eesh, NOT a woman or servant) so that he dies shall surely be put to death.
A Daughter Is The Property of Her Father
If a man virgin daughter is defiled, he is paid the pride price because she is his property and his property is damaged.
“If a man entices a virgin who is not betrothed, and lies with her, he shall surely pay the bride-price for her to be his wife. If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money according to the bride-price of virgins. (Exo 22:16-17)
“If a man finds a young woman who is a virgin, who is not betrothed, and he seizes her and lies with her, and they are found out, then the man who lay with her shall give to the young woman’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his woman because he has humbled her; he shall not be permitted to divorce her all his days. (Deu 22:28-29)
Did you hear that? A woman NEVER divorces a man, only her man can divorce her UNLESS he took the woman improperly.
A First Wife And A second wife Are Also treated Differently
A man’s first woman (there is no word for “wife” in Torah) and his second and all subsequent woman are not treated the same. The first woman never leaves her man unless he divorces her. BUT all the others can be set free if their needs are not met.
If he takes another woman, he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, and her marriage rights. And if he does not do these three for her, then she shall go out free, without paying money. (Exo 21:10-11)
So much to learn, so little time. Are we will to become seekers and doers of the truth or not? I guess only time will tell. BUT when Yehovah brings back Zion (His ezrach) men to Himself, there will be many who are going to have a rude awakening.
