Manna Was Collected By Israel’s Seed

who collected the mannaWe have many false ideas concerning who it was that collected the manna in the wilderness.

It was a Sabbath and the 15th day of the 2nd month after we, Israel’s seed came out of Egypt with our congregation (Israel and the Ger who dwell with us). Everyone had the day off and took the opportunity to complain to the spiritually born men who make up true Israel (the Ezrach), men who are the heads of each of their households. They were complaining that Moses and Aaron had brought them into the wilderness to kill them and were asking us what we were going to do about it.

And they journeyed from Elim, and all Israel’s seed’s congregation came to the Wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they departed from the land of Egypt. Then all Israel’s seed’s congregation complained against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness. (Exo 16:1-2)

There is a chain of command in Israel. Yehovah speaks to Moses and Aaron,  Moses and Aaron speaks to Israel’s seed and then Israel’s seed speaks to their congregation. And it works the same way going back up the chain. Our congregation complained to us about Moses and Aaron; and then we, foolishly, took it upon ourselves to complain to Moses and Aaron.

And Israel’s seed said to them, “Oh, that we had died by the hand of Yehovah in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat and when we ate bread to the full! For you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.” (Exo 16:3)

The Manna Is Promised

Yehovah heard them, and then spoke to Moses.

Yehovah said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you. And the עם  am (people) shall go out and gather a certain quota every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not. And it shall be on the sixth day that they shall prepare what they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.” (Exo 16:4-5)

manna - like white corianderWho are the people to whom the manna was given to? This is the question that we will answer today; and the answer to this question has huge ramifications, both now and in the future. Unfortunately, it is difficult to see the light because of all the misinformation which we have previously accepted as truth. By making the spiritually born men called “Israel”, who really are “Israel’s seed” the “children of Israel” we have perverted the scriptures so much that finding further light is impossible.  Gerim (strangers), nashiym (woman) and benot (daughters) are not Israel’s seed.

After Moses hears from Elohim again, he relays what Yehovah says back to Israel’s seed.

And Moses and Aaron said to all Israel’s seed, “At evening you shall know that Yehovah has brought you out of the land of Egypt. And in the morning you shall see the glory of Yehovah; for He hears your complaints against Yehovah. But what are we, that you complain against us?” Also Moses said, “This shall be seen when Yehovah gives you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to the full. For Yehovah hears your complaints which you make against Him. And what are we? Your complaints are not against us but against Yehovah.” (Exo 16:6-8)

Next, Moses tells Aaron to speak to congregation and tells them to draw near before Yehovah. I believe Yehovah is doing this to frighten them. He does not tell them anything.

Then Moses spoke to Aaron, “Say to all Israel’s seed’s congregation, ‘Come near before Yehovah, for He has heard your complaints.’ ” Now it came to pass, as Aaron spoke to all Israel’s seed’s congregation, that they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of Yehovah appeared in the cloud. (Exo 16:9-10)

The Manna Is Gathered By Israel’s Seed

Again Yehovah speaks to Moses, His shalach, His sent one, with instructions for Israel’s seed. [Right now Yehovah is waiting for 144,000 of Israel’s seed whom He can set-apart and use (like He did Moses) in the last days to lead their very large congregations during the tribulation.]

And Yehovah spoke to Moses, saying, “I have heard the complaints of Israel’s seed. Speak to them, saying, ‘At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread. And you shall know that I am Yehovah, your Elohim.’ ” (Exo 16:11-12)

Yehovah is not the elohim of the women, children, servants or the Ger; their elohim is their man. His sons are not filled with bread unless the rest of his households are also filled. And Yehovah is about to use His sons to feed their households.

So it was that quails came up at evening and covered the camp. And in the morning the dew lay all around the camp. And when the layer of dew lifted, there, on the surface of the wilderness, was a small round substance, as fine as frost on the ground. So when Israel’s seed saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was.  (Exo 16:13-15a)

Moses answers their (the son’s) question.

And Moses said to them, “This is the bread which Yehovah has given you to eat. This is the thing which Yehovah has commanded: ‘Let every man [eesh] gather it according to each one’s need, one omer for each person [נפשׁ, nephesh], according to the number of persons. Let every man [eesh] take for those who are in his tent.‘ ” So Israel’s seed did so and gathered, some more, some less. So when they measured it by omers, he who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack. Every man [eesh] had gathered according to each one’s need. (Exo 16:15b-18)

The Manna Begins To Fall

בני ישׂראל, benei israel (Israel’s seed) are spiritually born men, not women and certainly not “children.”  But not even all men who were allowed to gather the manna; only Israel’s seed gathered the manna.

Remember, the Ger dwells with the Ezrach; but he is not numbered among Israel’s seed until he circumcises himself and all the men of his household and then draws near and keeps the Exodus 12 Passover. Until that time he, along with the sons, daughters, servants and women, are the  נפשׁ nephesh (persons) who dwell in the tents of Israel’s seed. Nephesh is often a word that is used when men and women and children are all being counted together; we saw this when the 70 nephesh who went to Egypt with Jacob were enumerated in Genesis 46.

The reason it is so important to understand who received and collected the heavenly bread, the manna, is because we must also understand who is to receive the words of life which came from the mouth of Yehovah. We will see next time that the 10 commandments and all the statutes, judgments and ordinances were also given to Yehovah’s son, Israel and they then they they teach their Congregations.

This is the short version of what I taught in my Sabbath Class. Here is the video and the  mp3.
