“In Jesus Name?”

in jesus name, abracadabra, magic words, in whose name do we prayI have had many people ask me, after I have prayed, “Michael, why don’t you say ‘in Jesus name’ (or for the more Hebrew root oriented, ‘in Yeshua’s name’) when you pray? Really, what they are asking is “why don’t I use the magic words?”

“In Jesus Name?”

in jesus name, abracadabra, magic words, in whose name do we prayAugh – I am so sick of the mysticism, the superstitious beliefs and the all the groundless ideas which folks have accepted as true in Christianity, but which have absolutely no foundation in Torah.

When did we stop being like the fair-minded Bereans who listened to what Paul, Peter, James, John, Jude or even what they say that Yeshua said, and then searched the scripture to see if it is so?

And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. (Act 17:10-11)

Which scriptures did the Bereans search? Only Yehovah’s words given to His son, Israel are the scriptures!

Yet all my life I was led to believe that if I prayed “in Jesus name” my prayers would be answered. I knew the verses in the Christian commentaries that supposedly taught this false doctrine; here are some which John said that Yeshua said.

And whatever you ask in my name (In Jesus name?), that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the son. If you ask anything in my name (In Jesus name?), I will do it. (Joh 14:13-14)

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in my name (In Jesus name?) He may give you. (Joh 15:16)

“And in that day you will ask me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name (In Jesus name?) He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in my name (In Jesus name?). Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. (Joh 16:23-24)

O my Master, please forgive us! We have accepted doctrines and traditions of men that have absolutely no foundation in Your Torah.

Does Yehovah Change? Does His word endure forever? Are we allowed to add to or subtract from His words given through Moses and His other Prophets? Did Enoch pray in Jesus name? How about Methuselah? Did Noah, Shem, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob or even David pray in Jesus name? Of course not!

Ha – Matthew and Luke both say that Yeshua taught Israel how to pray saying,

In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. (Mat 6:9)

So He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. … (Luk 11:2)

Yeshua said “hollowed be Thy name, not my name!

What is His name? Most people have prayed this prayer all their lives and do not even know the Creators name? His name is Yehovah (or some variation of that)!

But I did something that few men will ever do. I began to search the scriptures for myself and found that Yehovah does not even hear the prayers of those who do not love His eternal and unchanging ways. Oh – we have learned so many lies.  Does it even make sense that a man can do things that are contrary to the Creator’s ways, and as long as he ends his prayer with the magic words “in Jesus name” will receive what he has asked for? That is nothing but foolishness. The only prayer, from a Gentile, which Yehovah hears is the prayer of contrite heart and broken spirit that comes to Him in repentance. That man will pray something like this:

O Creator of all things. I have acted foolishly and have failed to learn and do Your eternal and unchanging ways. I have followed other gods (elohim – lawmakers and judges) and feared them. Please forgive me, I want to leave this wicked kingdom of my birth and join myself and my family to You and Your called-out people. Please help me as I begin this new journey.

Once a man repents, leaves the kingdom of his birth and joins himself (and his family) to Yehovah and His called-out people, he is no longer a Gentile; he is now a Ger.

We have learned sooo many lies; worthless and unprofitable things!

O Yehovah, my strength and my fortress, my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come to You from the ends of the earth and say, “Surely our fathers have inherited lies, worthlessness and unprofitable things.” Will a man make gods (elohim – lawmaker’s and judges) for himself, which are not Elohim? Therefore, lo, I am causing them to know at this time, I cause them to know My hand and My might, And they have known that My name is Jehovah!(Jer 16:19-21)

Let’s find out today who Yehovah’s people (the Ger and the Ezrach, His sons) call on the name of.

And as for Seth, to him also a son was born; and he named him Enosh. Then men began to call on the name of Yehovah [the LORD]. (Gen 4:26)

“Therefore wait for Me,” says Yehovah, “Until the day I rise up for plunder; My determination is to gather peoples to my assembled dominions [all the kingdoms of the world], to pour on them My indignation, All My fierce anger; all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of My jealousy. “For then I will restore to the peoples a pure language, that they all may call on the name of Yehovah, to serve Him with one accord. (Zep 3:8-9)

Yehovah is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them. (Psa 145:18-19)

A lawmaker makes commandments, and statutes, and ordinances; and a judge makes judgments. Yehovah is Israel’s (Ezrach men) Elohim, their only Lawmaker and judge.

“Surely I [Moses] have taught you statutes and judgments; just as Yehovah, my Elohim commanded me, that you should act according to them in the land which you go to possess. Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’ “For what great nation is there that has Elohim so near to it, as Yehovah our Elohim is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him? (Deu 4:5-7)

Yehovah, speaking to the 144,000 men who will come out ahead of time and serve only Yehovah, says:

Surely you shall call a nation you do not know, and nations who do not know you shall run to you, because of Yehovah your Elohim, and the Holy One of Israel; For He has glorified you.” Seek Yehovah while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man [eesh] his thoughts. Let him return to Yehovah, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. (Isa 55:5-7)

The question I have for my reader today is the same question that Elijah asked all the men of Israel on mount Carmel.

And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If Yehovah is Elohim, follow Him; but if Baal [how about inserting Jesus or Yeshua here?], follow him.” But the people answered him not a word. (1Ki 18:21)

Oh – the silence is still deafening.

Therefore let them give us two bulls; and let them choose one bull for themselves, cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it; and I will prepare the other bull, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it. Then you call on the name of your elohim, and I will call on the name of Yehovah; and the elohim who answers by fire, He is THE Elohim.” So all the people answered and said, “It is well spoken.” (1Ki 18:23-24)

I hope we all will make the correct choice today as to whose name we will call upon; it did not go well for the other group and it will not go well in the last days for those who want to make it all about Jesus or Yeshua. Yehovah said this at the end of Joel 2, which is all about His servants the 144,000 ish men.

And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of Yehovah shall be saved. (Joe 2:32)

O Yehovah, You are my Elohim! I will exalt You, I will praise Your name, for You have done wonderful things; Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. (Isa 25:1)
