Words Of Yehovah

words of YehovahWords are the building blocks of great civilizations; they are the matrix by which great and righteous thoughts may be explored and established, and at the same time, be the very things that prevent a people from gaining great understandings from the words of Yehovah.

All the kingdoms on the earth have failed, or will fail in the end. Only the kingdom of heaven has survived the ages because it is founded on the eternal and unchanging truths which were given to us by the very oracles, the words of Yehovah.

“Hear, O Israel [spiritually born men] Yehovah our Elohim [your law-maker and judge], Yehovah is First! You shall love Yehovah, your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” (Deu 6:4-7)

Which words is Moses talking about? Answer: The words of Yehovah! Let’s go to the first verse to understand what I just quoted in context:

“Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments [these are the words] which Yehovah your Elohim has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess, that you may fear Yehovah your Elohim, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you [men], you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as Yehovah Elohim of your fathers has promised you– ‘a land flowing with milk and honey.’ “(Deu 6:1-3)

It is the words of Yehovah that we are not allowed to add to or subtract from.

“You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of Yehovah your Elohim which I command you.” (Deu 4:2)

“To the law (Torah) [the words of Yehovah given through Moses] and to the testimony [the words of Yehovah given through His Prophets]! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” (Isa 8:20)

The Words Of Yehovah Are Constantly Being Changed!

words of YehovahWe should never forget that the translations, the lexicons, the dictionaries, the concordances and the commentaries that we all read and study from were written by men who, almost without exception, have never repented, left the kingdom of their birth, joined themselves (and their families) to Yehovah’s eternal and unchanging kingdom and begun learning and doing only His ways. Also add the fact that these men are not promoting Yehovah’s kingdom for you either. Now add the greed factor! These men need to sell their works to a BROAD spectrum of people in order to make a profit, and to do so they must choose words in their work which do not offend the general population. Finally, we must understand the difficulty of going from one language to another and the application of the words of Yehovah which transcend all cultures.

With all this in mind, it is a monumental task to help people come to knowledge and understandings that they have previously never even considered being a possibility. This thought reminds me of something Mark Twain once said:

“What gets us into trouble is not what we don’t know. It’s what we know for sure that just ain’t so.”

We have inherited lies, worthless and unprofitable things; we have all been taught ways that we should not go. Our safety, in the coming days, is in embracing only the words of Yehovah as our firm foundation.

This is why Paul said:

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of Yehovah.” (Rom 12:2)

The will of Yehovah is found in the words of Yehovah given to His men through Moses and His other prophets:

“How can a young man [nah’ar] cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.” (Psa 119:9)

“Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” (Psa 119:11)

“Deal bountifully with Your servant [eh’ved, always a man], that I may live and keep Your word.” (Psa 119:17)

“Hear the words of Yehovah, you who tremble at His word: “Your brethren [ach] who hated you, Who cast you out for My name’s sake, said, ‘Let Yehovah be glorified, That we may see your joy.’ But they shall be ashamed.” (Isa 66:5)

“Hear, my sons [benim], the instruction of a father, and give attention to know understanding; for I give you good doctrine: Do not forsake my law [Torah]. When I was my father’s son, tender and the only one in the sight of my mother, he also taught me, and said to me: ‘Let your heart retain my words; keep my commands, and live’.” (Pro 4:1-4)

This article is the introduction for other articles about words which, if misunderstood will lead us into error; but, if understood correctly, will help us to deepen our understandings of His eternal and unchanging ways.

Hebrew is an amazing language and Yehovah chooses His words very purposely. He is not arbitrary in His words because what He says, He will do.

In our translations there are many Hebrew words which have been translated poorly, so poorly in fact the we end up believing things as fact, which are just not so. In the weeks and months to come we will learn about many of these words, and thus be able to read and hopefully begin to understand them as Yehovah meant us to.

The word “adoni” or “adonai” is a great place to begin our journey.
