Fall of Man / Fall of Ha Adam

fall of man, Genesis 3I really wanted to make the title of this blog “the fall of the man” but for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) purposes I had to make it less precise and call it the fall of man. When most folks hear the words the fall of man they tend to think “the fall of man-kind, or perhaps, the fall of human-kind. Really, the fall of man-kind is not bad; if, it were understood as eesh-kind or male-kind, but it takes time to train our mind to think in those terms. This is a subtle distinction, but one that we must embrace if we want to understand the instructions which Yehovah gave through Moses.

After the fall of man, Yehovah came to the garden. Who was it that He called to? Did Yehovah ever talk to the woman before she had disobeyed her man? What did Yehovah tell her?

The first time the man, “the adam” is called “Adam” with no definite article “the” before it, was after the fall when Yehovah was pronouncing on him the consequence for listening to his woman and not obeying His Elohim.

Now man has become “like one of us” … – what is that about? There is no “us”!

And what is Yehovah saying when He tells the serpent that He will put enmity between his seed and the woman’s seed? Does a woman have seed? Does a snake have seed that we need to worry about? Perhaps this seed is spiritual seed, and we need some better understandings from the words which Yehovah spoke through His prophets. I am going to suggest a possible answer which will not agree with the doctrines and traditions of men that most “Christians” and “Messianics” want to believe.

Finally, who was it that was kicked out of the garden after the fall of man? You may be surprised to find out. Remember: As “bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh” – she, is he!

So much to learn, so little time; and this is just the third chapter.

I delight to do Your will, O my Elohim (my only lawmaker and judge), and Your Torah is within my heart.” (Psa 40:8)

Levirate Marriage

Levirate MarriageThe instructions given to Yehovah’s Ezrach men concerning the “levirate marriage” is all about preserving  the name of thy brother, another man of Israel, by producing a seed/son for him. We take our brother’s woman to our self in order to produce a son to inherit our dead brother’s land, position and preserve his name in the earth.

“If brothers [אחים, ach] dwell together, and one of them dies and has no son, the widow of the dead man shall not come to a man [לאישׁ, eesh] outside [זר, zoor]; her husband’s brother [יבמה, yaw·vawm’] shall go to her and take [ולקחה, law·kach’] her to himself, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother to her [ויבמה׃, yaw·vawm’]. And it shall be that the firstborn son [הבכור, bek·ore’] which she bears will succeed to the name of his dead brother, that his name may not be blotted out of Israel. (Deu 25:5-6)

Because of Yehovah’s instructions concerning the levirate marriage a husband’s brother [יבמ, yaw·vawm’], through the same woman can produce a first-born son for his dead brother and one for himself as well. Wow!

In this context I discussed the story of Tamar and in the story of Naomi and Ruth, and we get to see Torah being lived out right before our eyes; as we see the near of kin, redeeming of the land which was previously sold, and the levirate marriage instructions in action. I also talked about the Hallmark movie called “Loving Leah.” There was much of it I did not like, but I am always such a sucker for a “chick flick.” 🙂

Other topics I discussed in this lesson were Divorce and Remarriage and A Man Shall Die For His Own Sin.

Jacob Receives The Promise

Jacob receives the promise, Genesis 29,Genesis 30, Yasher 30, Yasher 31,Jacob was sheckleless and alone when he arrived in Haran. As we saw last time, all he had was Yehovah’s Promise. It took twenty year, but Jacob receives the promise.

Jacob served Laban for seven years and then took the twins (28), first Leah and then Rachel a week later, he was 84. Over the next 7 years all his sons (except Benjamin) would be born to him. And during these same 14 years Laban also had been blessed in sons and daughters, riches.

Yasher 31:24 At that time, the other seven years which Jacob served Laban for Rachel were completed, and it was at the end of fourteen years that he had dwelt in Haran that Jacob said unto Laban, give me my women and send me away, that I may go to my land, for behold my mother did send unto me from the land at Canaan that I should return to my father’s house.
25 And Laban said unto him, Not so I pray thee; if I have found favor in thy sight do not leave me; appoint me thy wages and I will give them, and remain with me.

Give me my women and my children for whom I have served you, and let me go; for you know my service which I have done for you.” And Laban said to him, “Please stay, if I have found favor in your eyes, for I have learned by experience that Yehovah has blessed me for your sake.” (Gen 30:26-27)
